Week 38 - dinners, fathers, thunderbolt kids & paint

Whew, last week was a whirlwind of nights out, dinners, friends and work. Only one night home all week. It started with Gareth and Clare who had baby Nathan on Monday (four hours of labour - go girl go!) He's definitely very cute, but lulled them into a false sense of security for the first three days before discovering his lungs and appetite. :)

Tuesday we went to Tim and Eloise for supper. It was a wonderful evening catching up with them since they had little Sofia, scooping tacos and talking with our mouths full. Culminated in some deadly choc pud and homemade biscuits that I paid for later gladly. Argh - Gaviscon!

Wednesday was cell group, always special, and Thursday we caught up with our house for the evening. WinDeed took us out for dinner at StarDust in Rondebosch: an evening of good food, music and great people. After our 12.30 bed time, it was difficult to get up on Saturday, but we made it out of bed by 8am to sort out cupboard doors, fetch trailers, prep the baby's room for painting, do some trips to the dump, get laundry going, make bread, stock up the freezer... what have I left out? Oh yes, a trip to Heidi and Ian to collect the compactum and a CRV-full of stuff that they have lent us. We are blessed to be able to use their sterilisers, dangly things for the baby to look at, extra clothes, sheets, bottle warmers etc. Plus a pram too. Wow.

Sunday dawned clear for Adam's first Father's Day (a Bill Bryson on "The Thunderbolt Kid" and some climbing chalk were found before we left).

We packed our picnic blankets and tea, and headed to Rhodes Memorial for an hour or two after an excellent church service. Els, Sabina and Finn joined us in a sheltered spot. What a great start to the day :). We got home around 1pm to do some more painting, tidying etc. and finished the weekend with dropping off the trailer at the Mackies and a quick stop at Gareth and Clare to say hi. Nathan was asleep and Clare looks great for getting an hour's nap at a time in-between the two-hourly feeds.

The compactum made it down the passage (hallelujah) and now there's some curtain alterations, carpet cleaning and I think we are just about set.

Adam has been a total star! From cupboards to lights to paint to dinners - I am blessed with the coolest, most awesome man of my dreams who has not been grumpy once!
