A quiet moment at last

Seems that days are filled with noise
And the thunder of their toys
The nights fly by so fast
I feel left behind at the last

But a moment here and a simple pause there
Time to sip and brush back some hair
Then in the midst of all that stuff
There's time to pick up and admire feathered bird fluff

Such a contrast, such busy days
And yet there is time to still be amazed
To hug a bare bum and tickle a tum
Admire a rainbow and join in a hum

My life is rich, if noisy, it's true
I would not swap it. 'cos I love you

Good Company in the Gardens

What do you do on a semi-rainy day in Cape Town. The Natural History
Museum. The kids both loved the touch and feel displays, but were
especially awestruck by the great sea display. The whale chamber was a
hit, with Jessica singing "wooo - weeeeeeeeeeeee - ooooooooo" songs
all the way home.
<Postscript - she was still singing whale songs that night when she
was in bed. About 10 minutes later a little voice floated out of her
room (yes, that bottom lip still quivers) at the memory of the Jonah
story when Jonah was eaten by a whale. "Mommy, the whale eat
Jonahhhh..." We had to comfort her a little before she would fall
asleep. >
After visiting the museum, we had lunch at the cafe in the gardens,
and I caught these shots as Jessica and Emily played together. Note
the progression... Luke wanted in too - he's never one to be left out
and had a little pose at the end by himself!

What are little sisters for?

Why, to create red indians out of their little brothers of course!
Here's Lukey decorated in the (ex)stickers from Jessica's train! Note
the glee on Jessica's face.

Out for Friday afternoon walks

Friday afternoons is our walk time - I meet up with some other moms
and we head out to the forest, or a wine farm or even the local green
belt for a wander with the kids. They love it and it means that we get
some time out in nature. Mostly quite restorative to the soul!

Here are Jessica and her good friend Emma on the greenbelt, walking
back to the cars decorated in greenery. Too sweet! They insisted on
holding hands most of the way back too.
