Ah, remember the days when you could party till late then sleep late? Alas, seems that I fell asleep at 11.50 so missed my loving husband's "happy new year", then was awoken by a panicked "Mama!" at 03.36 (I checked as I bolted upright), "my bed is wet!" Salubrious beginnings! Suffice it to say that Luke slept through the change, but woke up in his new Big Boy Bed at 05.26 for a bottle, then wandered through at 6.15 for a cuddle and some consolation as one of our yearly thunderstorm rumbled around the valley.
Adam's been very careful this morning - I'm not good on 5 hours of sleep! :) Jessica was not too keen on the thunder bit: we found her in bed with her hands clamped over her ears, but Luke thinks it's rather cool. "Funder!" We're rejoicing in a bit of rain (think buckets, but wonderfully cool after a hot yesterday) and the garden is drinking it all up. Not sure what is going to happen to the cricket which is meant to start tomorrow at Newlands though. When not attached to the iPad, Adam's listening to cricket... it's quite soporific I find :) Aren't I uncultured!! you'd never think Keppler Wessels is somewhere on the family tree.
Christmas holidays were a good start to 2011. Does that make sense? We headed up to Knysna to spend a week or so with all the family, and found some lovely beaches just below the Heads that were deserted. THen we did some canoeing (against the wind, arghghgh), explored the Bird Park (wonderful place, the kids were riveted) and met an elephant up close.
Jessica now sleeps with a fluffy toy named Harry after the ellie himself - though her copy is of course a "she"?!
Some pics below.
Hey ho, time to do something productive with the first day of the year. I think I may migrate to the couch, or if I can cajole Adam to carry on kid stuff, and finally back-update my blog. Well, there's about 4 months missing. Sorry ek se!
