We headed north up the N1 with elation on a Friday morning for a weekend at Blesfontein just outside Sutherland. And what a colour-filled weekend it was! Spring's sprung flowers, spotty dotty horses, Luke and his big stick, mud on the way home through the Tankwa Karoo desert... most of all just time together as a family and with our hosts and friends Nicol and Marina.
Love, love, love this farm!

Then Jessica found the horses...
So mom and Luke went flower hunting around the farm.. the first flowers just out on this higher ground and escarpment edge. We found lots of flowers.
Then we went to visit the Escarpment edge that overlooks the Tankwa. I found an Adam and the kids went rock-hunting. There were LOTS of rocks. We left most of them behind.
More flowers - and so many sunbirds sipping nectar... and some different bulbs with yellow flowers on the way back to the farm.
Super sad to say goodbye, we left as the much-needed rains came down and chanced our luck on the Ouberg pass. What a glorious narrow, winding, gravel track into the valley! And then across the Tankwa to Ceres, misty mountains, and home.
Er, needed a bit of a car wash when we finally got home!
