With foreboding looks at the murky skies on our side of the mountain, we set off to pick up Adam and join in the carol service to be held at Green Point park. I had jackets, beanies and hot drinks packed (for Just-in... you know, Just-in Case).
Much to our surprise, as we hit Hospital Bend the clouds rolled back and we swept into sunshine and found blue skies above. The park, as always, a fab spot to be. Looking up at the mountain and Lion's Head, picnic blankets spread, lots of kids to play with and great music. We settled in and enjoyed some munchies before the carols began. A moment or two when small people - specifically a small girl - got a bit carried away, but we all ended up singing together as the sun set and stars rose.
An added bonus, meeting up with Andrew and Liz and kids at the park (down from Jhb) and catching up with Gus and Els.
Small tired boy did get rather too adventurous though and tried to climb on the speakers as a means to getting onto the stage afterwards at about 8.15pm - and fell into the gap between stage and speakers. Bloodied lip, gashes inside, tears, and definitely time to go home! So we tackled the long drive back via Hout Bay to drop Craig home and revelled in the lovely coast road and then winding back up over the pass through the old trees on Constantia Neck.
Love CT!
