A warm day finally

Saturday 12 September finally dawned with clear skies... the first for several weeks. And warm weather. So while Adam worked on the final few sections of fencing for the front of our house (a mammoth task I committed him to when I said something along the lines of "wow, that would look good, and yes, we'd love your extra fencing if you aren't going to use it"), I took Jessica down to FishHoek beach for an hour or two.

Of course, no visit to the beach would be complete without a whale or two in the background (I saw several from Boyes Drive and then there were two actually in the bay just off Glencairn beach).

Jessica loved the water: first time she's been in. And so I got damp to about knee-height while she gurgled and chuckled and tried to chase the little waves towards the sea...

After I managed to extract her, with difficulty, from the icy waters, we sat on the beach and she built a sandcastle (hump in the sand).

Note to self / observation for others: it's amazing how MUCH sand can collect on one small person. On the body and in the nappy. Everywhere. And that it's ok even if it takes about 15 minutes to de-sand the said small person before allowing them anywhere near your clean sparkly car (which now has sand in it anyway!) Hee hee!
