Well, what happens after two days of rain in CT? "Monday" - according to woeful Mike, Adam's climbing buddy!
CT in the rain this weekend was rather nice actually. Especially since the roof did not leak (and it poured). Necia was down from Jhb and it was great to talk and catch up with her... she's a marvellously chilled guest to have around.
On Friday night we went to the Maynardville Carnival and watched the world walk by, sampled some food from the different food stalls, and then got home for late night coffee. Getting up on Saturday was difficult with the patter of rain on the roof, but we had a leisurely breakfast, then headed to Kalk Bay to wander through some shops, check out the soggy fish festival and just enjoy the day. The find of the day was Cherelle's wine shop: it sells really funky ironwork, cool framed pictures, shower-sealer fruitbowls (yes, strange but very luring) and offers wine tasting (with chocolates) for free with a great if damp view. We opted for dry fish for dinner tho' - so we went to Hout Bay's "Fish on the Rocks" for supper. Necia was delighted to see a seal, and the sea gulls squawked hopefully.
Sunday was an early start with church and then a drive out along the coastal road all the way to Kleinmond. A leisurely stroll on the beach and a few shells later, we met Nicole Johan, little Daniella and Johan's parents at Dassiesfontein, a huge farmhouse on the N2, on a hill in the middle of nowhere. Yummy real Afrikaans boerekos and bread served on tin plates.
Daniella is cute! And full of "NO's". Nicole makes a great mom as we watched her handle 1m of stubborn will, and Johan supporting the decisions! Hmm. Definitely team work. Johan's folks took their turn to entertain the little person too, which leads to the formation of *Strategy #1: invite the parents down often to entertain Bump for us*.
We dropped Necia at the airport on the way back in, caught Brett and Tracey for tea at Rhodes, stopped in at Glen and Karen for a snack and to meet the new puppy formally, and cruised home at about 7pm. I need my mid-morning nap today after that busy weekend! Yawn.
Bump is still growing and kicking at regular times ("biff" as I write) and we're excited about the 22-week 3-D super scan that happens tomorrow morning. Oh, and I went to Louise's baby shower on Saturday afternoon with hundreds of young moms and at least 3 small kiddies... eek! Am I ready to be a mom?
