Setting sail

This weekend my daughter did her first solo crossing. It was just the vlei not far from us, but it was a poignant and significant moment and she did well. Her second crossing ended up in the reeds, but Jessica worked her way out by jumping overboard, pushing the boat and then jumped back in again to sail back perfectly.

There are lots of meaningful things that I can pull from this. But my heart was in my mouth and I had to stand back. I'm so proud of her. And my husband who patiently coached her, encouraged her and then pushed her out for her first solo sail.
